Abstract

Chilean foreign policy since the early 1990s can be summarized as a successful administration with brilliant results. Chile has reached agreements of various kinds with many states of the world. However, there is a tendency to analyze these treaties exclusively from a commercial point of view and it is not considered that the agreements not only bring economic benefits, but also benefit young people and the rest of the population in the form of new opportunities in the social and cultural spheres. This article analyzes the evolution of Chile's foreign policy in the 1990s, focusing on relations with the European Union, and shows the opportunities that have opened up for the Chileans youth and that Chilean foreign policy not only revolves around to commercial and economic issues, but gives priority to political, cultural and social issues.
