Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • As part of the submission process, authors are required to verify that their submission accomplishes all of the elements shown below. Submissions that do not meet these guidelines will be returned to authors. The submission has not been previously published or considered by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the editor).

Author Guidelines

 

General considerations on the presentation of articles:

1.- All manuscripts must be in Spanish and must be submitted in a Microsoft Word document, with a .doc or .docx extension. No other format will be accepted.

2.- All manuscripts must be unpublished.

3.- In a separate document (Word), certain data of the authors responsible for the manuscript must be included, specifically the following: full name, institutional affiliation or current position (institution, city, country), academic(s) degree(s), email, ORCID or Google Scholar ID, phone number.

4.- About the reception of articles: articles will be received throughout the year, prioritizing those that are sent in response to a thematic call made by the journal. All texts must be sent to the email sabereseducativos@uchile.cl.

5.- Page configuration: letter size, 2.5 cm margins (both sides), 1.5 line spacing.

6.- All articles must use the Times New Roman font. Titles: 14 or 12 points, according to their hierarchy. Body of the text: 12 points. Footnotes: 10 points.

7.- The pages must be numbered, beginning with the title page (beginning of the text) and continuing consecutively until the last page of the bibliographical references.

 

Submissions must fit into one of the following categories:

1.- Original articles: new research or other original contributions, framed in the focus of the journal.

2.- Review articles: original elaboration based on material already published.

3.- Essays: monographic works referring to a personal and original reflection on topics related to the focus of the journal. They may consist of theoretical or methodological discussions or reflections on empirical facts.

4.- Interviews: sustained dialogue with a certain social actor belonging to the field of education, where relevant issues of the educational reality, public policies and/or their career or professional experience are deepened, according to the questions asked by him/her. the interviewer.

5.- Good practices: articles referring to the implementation of public policies in the educational field and/or innovative practices developed in educational communities, whether in terms of teaching, institutional management, union organization, internal processes or other directly related matters.

6.- Point of view: opinion article, of a critical or investigative nature, aimed at questioning, stressing or explaining relevant issues raised by other texts published in the journal, or issues concerning national or international current affairs in education. .

7.- Review: critical and synthetic analysis of books, essays, studies or other types of publications.

 

Rules on the structure and presentation of manuscripts:

1.- Title of the article

All manuscripts must present their title in Spanish (Times New Roman 16) and in English (Times New Roman 14). Titles are requested to be concise (no more than 12 or 15 words).

2.- Summary/Abstract

3.- Keywords

Under the abstract, 5 keywords must be indicated that are representative of the text and validated internationally. Like the abstract, these keywords must be in Spanish and English.

4.- Content of the article

The journal publishes different categories of manuscripts, as described in these guidelines for publication. Regardless of the type of work presented, it must contain at least the following sections:

- Introduction / Background / Presentation. It describes the purpose of the work and addresses theoretically and/or empirically the foundations that justify its approach.

- Methodology. Especially for scientific articles, this section should consider the definitions and details of the approach to the object of study, allowing the decisions made and their scientific support to be understood.

It must describe the results of the developed analysis, performing this task clearly and being able to support the contents in the evidence compiled, produced and presented in the article.

- Conclusions/ discussion. A space should be offered in the article to deepen into the interpretation, academic or professional implications, projections, challenges and/or limitations of the work carried out, particularly considering the results presented and the theoretical, empirical definitions and other background information presented to account for the object of study. study.

A list must be presented that accounts for all the references used in the preparation of the article, using an alphabetical order. The presentation of references must follow the APA 7th edition standards.

- Tables and figures. Each of the tables and/or figures presented in the article must follow the APA 7th edition standards.

5.- Citation

All citations and references must be made according to the APA (American Psychological Association) regulations, 7th edition.

It is necessary that all citations made in the text correspond to the entries in the References section. At the same time, only works that have been cited within the manuscript should be included in the References.

 

Others:

1.- Saberes Docentes Journal reserves the right to propose or introduce corrections in the writing of the texts. If there are any, they will be previously sent to the author for validation.

2.- Tables and graphs must be numbered consecutively, with Arabic numerals. Tables and graphs must be entered according to APA 7th edition standards and must be editable.

3.- The use of the impersonal third person (se) is recommended. For example: "this new methodology is expected (...)", instead of "we expect this new methodology (...)".

4.- The journal assumes that the collaborators have carried out ethical management of the sources from which they have extracted information, referencing and citing correctly whenever previously written ideas or texts, whether their own or those of third parties, are used. The use of fragments of previous works by the author himself/herself, without the respective citation, will be considered self-plagiarism.

 

Review

Section dedicated to the critical and synthetic analysis of books, essays, studies or other types of publications.

Point of View

Opinion article, of a critical or investigative nature, aimed at questioning, stressing or explaining relevant issues raised by other texts published in the journal, or issues concerning national or international current affairs in education.

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal will be used exclusively for the purposes stated in it and will not be provided to third parties or used for other purposes.
