Abstract

The use of starvation as a method of warfare has been a cruel and devastating tool throughout history, employed to weaken enemy populations. However, today, this practice is explicitly prohibited by international humanitarian law when directed against civilians, being classified as a war crime under international criminal law. This paper will examine this war crime in detail, identifying its elements. Subsequently, the discussion will address whether there are sufficient grounds to assert that Israel has committed this crime against the Palestinian population residing in the Gaza Strip.
